Snapdash

The above screens show the first time experience using SnapDash, a selfie app for iPhone.

The good bits:

  • SnapDash does not require a user to have an account, unless they’d like to share their “snaption” with their social media channels. In those cases, the user would then provide credentials to the relevant network.
  • Without needing to add steps on instructions, the UI itself provides clear next steps; when the timer runs out on the camera, the screen automatically progresses the user to the Sharing view.

To be improved:

  • The 3-panel intro tour at the opening of the app much more of a marketing piece than helpful instructions. Only the second panel begins to touch on what the app experience is actually about.
  • I was confused when I received the modal dialog on first entering the app, as it mentioned taking a “snaption” without any prior explanation of what that was. In fact, the word snaption doesn’t seem to make an appearance at any other time in the app.
