Weave from Intuit

Weave is a to-do app created by Intuit.

The good bits:
Weave uses a playthrough method (similar to that used in games) to guide new users through the creation of their first project and list. Each action is highlighted by a dark mask and accompanied by textual coachmarks. Users are automatically progressed to the next step once the action in focus is complete. The progressions are quick and not slowed down by transitions.

When complete, the user is congratulated and can continue adding more items to this list or discard it. This allows the user to build on top of the knowledge they gained in the playthrough.

Finally, Weave does not force users to have an account, and clearly explains why someone would want to sign up.

To be improved:
Games often let players skip playthroughs and explore on their own. But in Weave there’s no way to skip it without signing in or signing up.

Some of the actions seem more obvious than others (for example, “Start typing. When you’re done, hide the keyboard.”) which can make this playthrough feel tedious. The coachmarks are verbose; perhaps a few steps could do with a simple highlight from the mask.
