SwiftKey Note

These screens show the first time experience using SwiftKey Note on an iPad.

The good bits:

  • SwiftKey allows users to skip integration with Evernote, but clearly outlines why connecting to Evernote would add value to the experience.
  • The app uses a playthrough tutorial model, playing pre-recorded animations of statements being typed, and then asking for user interaction at key intervals. This encourages users to experience the primary input elements in the context of the keyboard, and is more effective than a non-interactive walkthrough slideshow or video.
  • The user can exit the playthrough tutorial at any time by tapping “Done”.

To be improved:

  • At times, it can be tedious to wait for the typing animation to complete. Consider shortening these moments, or allowing accelerators to get past them without having to leave the tutorial entirely.
